Locally Grown Real Farmers

This community market grew out of the friendships and relationships that started over seven years ago at a Saturday morning market in a town south of Nashville. Small farming entrepreneurs intentionally connected with families hungry for wholesome, fresh food. Since then, a local food movement took root and we have all been growing together.

Three years ago, in response to a growing need for a Nashville outpost and a mid-week market, Delvin Farms, Madison Creek Farms and the Turnip Truck pioneered a fresh-food oasis here in the 5-Points neighborhood. By year two, the demand for spaces and more local product required that the market move from the Turnip Truck to its current location beside the East Nashville Free Will Baptist Church on S. 10th and Russell.

The market is managed by Good Food for Good People, a community organizing team that has successfully coordinated local markets for the past five years. Their emphasis on the farmer's financial success and partnerships with the community gives their markets a gourmet flavor.

Recipe for a good day at the Farmers market:

Invite the artists, the chefs, the musicians, the foodies and the growers. Sprinkle in a butcher, a baker and a candlestick maker. Then provide a safe and friendly environment, mix everyone all together and stand back and watch it grow into a howling good time. In the end, it just works.
